Me and Violet
I am an advocate for animal welfare. This is probably what I am most known for. I help sponsor several animal welfare organizations as well as several individual animals. I am hoping to sponsor many more animals in the coming years. I also help feral cats in my own community on a daily basis. As helping those who cannot speak for themselves is my main purpose in life. My most recent accomplishment that I am quite proud of is my new book about animal welfare, Compassion Is A Choice. I have received nothing but positive feedback on it, from all over the world. The book is even featured on the websites of several well-known animal welfare organizations. I believe that if you make money, regardless of much or how little, you should give something back. There are always people and animals that are less fortunate than you are.
I have been working from home my office for about five years now. My home really belongs to my companion animals. On occasion, they will give us a place to sit down or sleep. It’s all about them and they have made that very clear. Most of my pets were either a stray or a rescue and I am so happy to be able to give them the love they deserve. They are the reason I work here. I have a close relationship with both my Mom and Dad, and I attribute my strong work ethic, independence, and determination to the way I was raised. I must also to give credit to Nathon, for helping me rescue and feed feral kitties, as well as helping me care for our own companion animals. On a personal note, I am not one to try to impress people. I call it like I see it and I am not big on letting other people influence me.
Fitness and living a healthy, cruelty-free lifestyle are very imporant to me. I spent about 10 years in the beauty industry. I am a licensed make up artist and esthetician. Most of my work revolved around sales. I was the account coordinator for a national cosmetics company, a position I earned on my sales alone. I also worked for one of the biggest professional beauty supply companies in Texas doing outside sales for awhile. After deciding I didn’t want to use my vehicle and gas for someone else’s benefit, I worked in several upscale Houston day spas doing either facials or make up applications/lessons. While I loved the atmosphere, I’ll be honest that I did not enjoy working on Saturdays or holidays. I wanted to run screaming at the mere thought of doing "bridal make up" again. (Yes, I am still happy to do make up for friends on occasion.)
One day, I came to the realization that myself and the workplace were not a good fit. In fact, my experiences in working at home are what made me write my first eBook, The Truth About Working At Home. I didn’t want someone telling me when I had to be at their place of employment or when I could go home. Telling me when I could eat, or that I wouldn’t have time to eat wasn't working for me. I was at the point where I would have preferred to set myself on fire than have an employer (or anyone) tell me what to do. I am more motivated on my own than I ever was in the workplace. I do not own an alarm clock and I'm happy to bounce out of bed everyday before daylight. What I want to do is work hard, doing something that I enjoy, according to my schedule. I want to help animals, make a difference in this world, and spend quality time with the people I care about. That is what I want my life to be about.
